Sugar Skull Halloween Makeup

SUGAR SKULL

GET THIS LOOK:

First I created a blank canvas by putting base of "Glamoflauge" by hard candy, then airbrushing over that with opal white from Dinair, and then going over my eyebrows with a cover stick.

Then I applied mascara and false eyelashes... more dramatic ones would look better for this look!
The I mapped out with blue eyeshadow, where i wanted to put the shapes and contouring. You can use any color you would like.
Then I proceed to contour and fill in the shapes, as seen above.
Then I darkened some of the areas with black eyeshadow.. to give it a more pronounced look, and make it appear as it the blue darkened to black.
Then I took some black liquid eyeliner (i suggest one with a felt tip), and drew the spiderweb design and filled in my nose area as shown above.
You can leave the look like this....
Or embellish with some rhinestones... I used regular eyelash glue to adhere them to my face. No specific patter... just have fun with it! :)

Halloween Makuep! Zomie/Zombie Pin Up

     Scarey Zombie

Zombie Pin Up Girl
First I created a clean/blank canvas by "whiting" my face out with concealer. Its heavy duty and does the trick. I used Glamoflauge by Hard Candy. You can get it at Walmart for around $6.00

Then I took my Dinair airbrush and the color "Sage Green" and sprayed it all over my face. Concentrating more around my eyes, under my cheekbone and temples of forehead. the darker color helps to create the illusion that those parts of your face are sunken in... like a dead zombie person! You can create this affect by using other makeup, however I feel airbrush is quicker and lighter, and easier to manipulate.

Then I took just a plain matte black eyeshadow. You can use any black eyeshadow that you want. this one is from rimmel london. I just went over the concentrated darker areas, and enhanced them a bit further.
Next I took a black line as well as a darker better quality black eyeshadow (more pigmented) and went around my eyes... to be me a dark look around the eyes, and on my waterline so it showed no skin or pinkness. the eyeshadow is from MAC... I also recommend urban decay eyeshadow if you want to get a really pigmented eyeshadow. The eyeliner pencil is from wet n' wild.
Next I took mascara to cover of the makeup that I got on my eyelashes. I just want the black showing through. You also may notice that the black shadow that you use over the green makeup will take on a greenish black. that's OK! that's what you want! Now normally i would use fake blood, or you can even by fake flesh kits from a Halloween store... but this is for the "zombie on a budget"... so I used lip gloss for my blood. I found the one that squeezes out of the tube looks more like blood and you can manipulate it to look like its dripping like real blood.
To complete the look I airbrushed some white into my hair... to give it more of a old dead feel. I used "Opal White" airbrush makeup from Dinair.
For those of you who want to have a little fun with this look... you can turn it into a Zombie Pin Up Look. I had a little fun with this. I added red lipstick "Russian Red by MAC" and I even took some black liquid liner and drew some stitches in some areas. I also put some concealer and green airbrush on my chest. It all depends on your outfit and what part of your skin is exposed.

Halloween is all about having fun and enjoying the time of year. be creative! Costumes can be super expensive and its so eay to improvise and make your own costume at the fraction of the cost. Good Luck on Your Zombie look and have fun with it.

Minimal Makeup Day

 Face:

mix of Moisturuzer and foundation for a tinted moisturizer

Cream blush

Eyes:

Quick sweep of cream eyeshadow

Curled Lashes

Light coat of mascara

Lips:

Rose colored liner

Coral lipstick

Gloss on center of lips

Kim Kardashian eyeshadow look from my YouTube video

You can use any color really... Pinks, Corals, Coppers, Purples, Blues...
I chose to stick with purple colors, like deep wine colors

Looks a little dark in this picture, and has a different look on paper. When you use the eyeshadow over the creme shadow, it blends very nice. the color of the shadow will pop more than the creme base.

Dont be afraid to smudge your liner a bit.. to give that smokey smolder look

You can use any black shadow. using a stiff brush like a crease brush will do the trick. start at the lash line and slowly add black... blending upwards into the purple. don't go over the whole lid... just about a quarter of the way up.

When adding the highlight color (my favorite to use is Nylon by MAC) make sure you blend it into where it meets the purple. that is the key to this look! making the colors look like they blend right into the next one without mixing the colors and losing the individual colors used. You can see what i mean by the pictures below. adding highlight to the inner corner of your eye makes your eyes pop! you may need to touch up

by curling your lashes down.. you can create the "bedroom eyes" look. It creates a very sultry sexy look!

Make your own makeup brush cleaner

Tight on money and still looking for a decently priced brush cleaner? Well here is what you need...

1 cup of water

1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol (higher percentage the better to kill bacteria)

1 Tbsp of leave in conditioner

1/2 Tbsp shampoo

1/2 Tbsp of dish soap

Mix slowly to avoid bubbles do it's easier to pour into a storage container. I'm order to use cleaner... Pour small amount into bowl. Take the brush that you want to clean and swirl it in cleaner. You will see the cleaner changing colors... That's the makeup coming off!!! Then rinse in Luke warm water, fix the hairs so they aren't all over the place, and place in towel to air dry. Don't stand brushes up! You might have to repeat cleaning and rinsing depending on how dirty the brush is.

Now you can keep your brushes clean and bacteria free. Saving you money and saving your brushes! :)

New Girl Makeup

I bought these from sephora... And I love them! They are what the artists use on Zooey Deschanel to give her that light and fresh natural beauty look. Zooey doesn't wear a lot of makeup to begin with... So the MUA likes to use alot of products to enhance her naturally beautiful skin. The products that they use are listed below..( the NARS iiluminator in orgasm that I bought isn't on the list, but its a great highlighter for that natural glow and compliments the orgasm blush *yes it's called orgasm haha*)

This breakdown was originally published in Issue 94 of Make-Up Artist magazine.

Skin Care:
Josie Maran Argan Oil Daily Moisturizer and Sircuit Cosmeceuticals Day Care Protective Day Moisturizer, which Douglass lets set for 10 minutes before applying any cosmetics. After moisturizing, Douglass uses Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, letting it set for 10 to 20 minutes before applying Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Bare Radiance.

There is also this really great website I came across that shows outfits "Jess" wears in the show... Where you can get them, and where you can get the more costly alternatives. It also shows outfits that Zooey is caught wearing all over town! Pretty cool site if you love her and her style like so many girls these days!

Summer Makeup

Summer is almost officially here. The humidity can be a huge damper when you are trying to look your best. Keep your makeup light and sheer but still get the coverage you want... By using a tinted moisturizer! You can buy your perfect shade or make your own by mixing your facial moisturizer with your liquid foundation. For all those bare mineral users out there... Mineral foundation works just as well, if not better. The advantage of making your own tinted moisturizer is that the shade is already perfect and you can adjust the amount of coverage you need... Simply by adding more foundation or more moisturizer. It leaves your skin looking fresh and dewey, without feeling heavy and caked on. Perfect for the warm summer months ahead of us! You can also add a touch of powdered bronzer to match your sun kissed tan skin!

I use "say yes to carrots" facial moisturizer and MACs "Studio sculpt with SPF" foundation. MAC also makes a very light moisturizing concealer called "select moisture cover".... For those days where you want coverage without putting makeup all over your face. Another hot product I see is a favorite among makeup artists... Is Laura Mercers tinted Moisturizers.

Hope this tip helped and saves you money at the same time! :)

Product Review

Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara

I bought this mascara because Kandee Johnson had it on her favorites video of 2011. So I figured I'd try it our, cuz she usually knows best.

Result: longer, thicker lashes with absolutely NO CLUMPING!

Please remember to always curl your lashes before applying mascara, so that you don't pluck all your lashes out. And makes sure your curler is clean!!!

This mascara was like $11... It was a good buy... But if I'm gonna be spending that kind of money on mascara... I'd rather spend it on MACs plush lash mascara. It gives the same results, but with much fuller lashes.

Hope this helps :)

Magenta lips

Magenta lips are huge this summer!!! To create this look I used a magenta liner from "MAC" as well as a discontinued pink color from their hello kitty collection. But I found almost the exact same color made by "Rimmel London" Which you can find by the link below.

(http://m.ulta.com/mt/www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2225509&productId=xlsImpprod1880075&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat80058#details)

This look is flattering on all skin tones, and it just looks even better with your sun kissed skin. I posted two pictures of this look, because lighting isn't always accurate. The picture using the flash shows the real, almost neon look that you get combining these two products.

You can always find a lipstick with a similar color to this look... But instead of going out and buying a brand new lipstick... I used what I had to create my desired look.

Hope you enjoy your new magenta lips!!!

Mmmmmuuuwwwaahhh!
