Broken Powder REPAIR!

Hey guys, since I have been sick for a few days... my Golden Globes Makeup tutorial had been posponed for the time being. But here is a useful and cost effective way to fix your broken makeup!

I just received some eyeshadow and blush palettes in the mail today that i ordered. Well one of the blush colors came borken :(... so this gave me the perfect idea for my next blog post. Im sure alot of you wonder what to do with broken makeup... so keep reading and Enjoy! :)

Uh Oh! Dont you just hate when this happens to your makeup?! Not only does it make a huge mess in your purse, your makeup bag, drawers ect ect... But who has the money and the time to go and buy a brand new eyeshadow or blush?

Well I have GOOD NEWS! Not only will this trick save you money and a trip to the store, but you dont have to throw out that broken eyeshadow!

Heres what you do first!

Step 1: Take a q-tip and snip the cotton swab off of one end, so you just have the stick part

Step 2: As if your powder wasnt broken enough... you need to break it more! I know, I know.. messy and seems very pointless... but trust me... it helps to fix it!

Step 3: Take some rubbing alocohol, the higher percentage you use the better! (More bacteria fighting)

Step 4: Drop a few (4-5) drops into broken up powder... no need to mix it... the powder absorbs it quite quickly.
Step 5: Take a tissue and a flat object similar in size and shape to your powder that you are trying to fix... for this one I used a quarter

Step 6. Fold tissue in half and place oject inside it, so it forms like a little pouch

Step 7: Press down on top of broken shadow... use a gentle amount of pressure. You are trying to compact the powder back together... You might need to repeat this step another time... depending on how wet the powder

Step 8: Air dry for a few hours... over night is best

*If you want a neat design on your shadow, you can use a quilted paper towel, or even put a peice of lace the tissue. that will give your powders that brand new look without buying brand new makeup!

The reson this works so well is because alot of brands use an alcohol base when pressing loose powder into a compact powder! Neat little tid bit huh?

If you have any questions comment below!

I look forward to hearing from all of you, and thank you for watching! The Golden Globes Makeup Tutorial will be up very soon! :)

Introduction to the YouTube world!

Well isn’t that the most flattering face?! Really YouTube??? You couldn’t have picked a better thumbnail? Any who... this is my first VLOG yay!!!!

This is just an Intro video... first of what I hope to be many. I plan on doing some makeup tutorials in the near future. Different looks I like to do, different looks you guys want me to do, and some looks that I stumble upon in magazines or the internet. I will also share some hair style videos as well. Nothing fancy, well cuz I don’t do hair.. but I do sometimes find different cute ways to wear my hair… and I want to share them so other people can look cute too!

I’m not only doing this blog, youtube, facebook thing to help market myself… But I want to help inspire young and old, boy or girl. Follow your dreams… it makes you feel good. I was nervous and apprehensive to follow mine. Always in fear of not being good enough, and well for the simple fact that I really didn’t know how to get started. But thanks to a very good friend of mine (Susan), and lucky for me a contact of hers (Katherine) I found my way. Katherine is a celebrity makeup artist and she basically inspired me to go for it! So what did I do?... I just jumped right in. She warned me that in this business there are going to be a few haters… but that is to be expected. I am not going to let them bring me down. I believe in my talent and skills and so do a lot of other people, and that’s all that matters in the end.

I just want to thank you all for your love and support along this journey of mine. I hope it is a long, happy and successful one!

If you have any makeup looks you want me to do… feel free to comment

Lots of Love

My Must-Haves and Go-To Products of 2011

First of all I would like apologize for my elementary looking blog. I’m a beginner blogger, and I am working on perfecting it! So I will soon have the blog I want up and running

So for my first post I thought I would share with you guys the products that I used pretty much every day in 2011. I love them sooo much that I wanted to tell you all about them, and maybe you guys can benefit from them just as much as I did!

My 2011 Morning and Night skin care regime

Biore warming anti blackhead cream cleanser
This stuff is pretty awesome! The first couple of days I started using and I already noticed such a difference in my completion. My blemishes were getting smaller and it didn’t dry out my face at all! I have horrible skin, I’m oily and dry in some places and to top it all off I have super sensitive skin. It’s really hard for me to find a face wash that works for my skin, but I think I found the miracle product. When you first put it on your face and rub it in, it gives it a tingly warming sensation to your face. I like stuff that cools or tingles when I use, it lets me know that its working and getting deep down into my pores. I use this product day and night. I got it at Wal-Mart of under $7.00 and it lasts me a few months.

Burts bees natural acne solutions clarifying toner
I try to stick with organic natural products as much as I can, but having sensitive skin it makes it hard for me to use some products. Because I have combination skin, I need to use a minor acne toner to control my breakouts. This works the best for me, I use it day and night right after I cleanse my face. I bought it at Walgreen’s for a little over $10.00. Its worth the price, and you only need a little bit on a cotton pad.

Seacret body lotion
GREAT BODY LOTION! Its water based so it isn’t greasy at all! I use all over! It is a god send during the winter time when you get over dry skin! I got it the mall at one of those kiosks. They were selling a manicure kit with it. They have a website (http://www.seacretspa.com/) if your interested. I have to say it’s pretty expensive, but it does the job. They claim to use salt from the dead sea, which is suppose to be good for your skin, so they say. A good substitute I have used in the past and works just as great, but doesn’t cost as much is Gold Bond Healing Lotion

Yes to Carrots nourishing face cream
I really really love this stuff! I only use it on my face at night, so I have that extra moisture while I sleep, even though its an every day cream. Because of my combination skin, the overnight cream gets too greasy. I put it under my eyes and on the dry parts of my face. Great for my sensitive skin! Its 98% all natural which I love! There is nothing better than a product that is natural! I got this from Walgreen’s for about $15.00, and you only need the smallest amount. I could buy so much from their website! They have so many products for all different skin types and purposes. And all their products are 98% natural or more! Check them out for sure! http://yestocarrots.com/

Blistex Medicated chap stick
I can’t stress enough how important it is to hydrate your lips! Being a makeup artist it’s a must! You can’t have your lips all chapped when you put gloss or lipstick on… ewwwies! You know how that feels and looks! Not good! I use any medicated chap stick, brand isn’t really an issue. I just “chain-gloss” every night with this bad boy. It leaves my lips feeling like soft plump pillows in the morning! Now who wouldn’t love that feeling?

My scents of 2011

Endless Love
Sold by Victorias Secret of course. Its one of my most favorite scents from there, besides Very Sexy, and this recently new one I want to get called Pure Secuction. It smells soooo yummy! Endless Love has bright apple blossom and ylang ylang. I usally spray it after I shower, and little in my hair. I like how it makes me hair smell. I also have the body lotion. I love how they always have those deals where you can get 3 for $25 or 5 for $30. If I wasn’t careful I would spend a ton of money there!

Inis Arose
This is my FAVORITE Perfume! I wear it every single day! My sister got it for me as a gift one day, and I have been asking her for more and more ever since. She got it from Ireland so I’m not really sure of the price, or its availability in the United States. I will post a link so you can check it for yourself. (http://www.perfume.ie/inis-arose.html)

Makeup I wore every time I did my face

Amazing coverage! Disguises any redness or blemishes I have. Great if you’re going to be in photographs. Pretty much use this all the time, unless I just want to go for a barely there look. Then I use a lighter mineral foundation. Ill use Maybellines Mineral power liquid foundation that you can get at any drugstore.

NYC white eye liner
I always use white liner on my lower lash line. It makes all eyes seem wider and brighter! It’s a near little trick. You can buy white eye liner anywhere!

This stuff is “BOMB DIGGITY”! Yes I know how corny I just sounded, but I’m so not joking. This stuff is the best liquid eyeliner I have ever used. It gives you such a precise line, especially when you want that perfect cat eye that I have been doing a lot recently. Its made sort of like a felt tip marker. It’s really really cool, and I suggest everyone get it, or at least try it and see what you think!

I have to admit, I wanted this because I loved the commercial for some reason. And I am not admitting that when I first used it, looked in the mirror and seductively said “have you been bitten?”… I would never admit such a humiliating thing! But anyway.. I love this product. Its a lot like a marker. I have been wearing a lot of pin up, 40s era makeup lately and this is perfect for either as a base under my red lipstick, or a very light pop of color if it I want a more subtle look. It stays on all day and doesn’t come off on your drinking glasses. You can find this at any store that sells makeup.

I still have yet to find the perfect mascara. I do like this one a lot… however I am always on the search for a better one. This one gives great volume, but I wish it gave more length. If any of you have a better mascara for me to try… let me know! I did like Maybelline XXL Pro Extension Waterproof Curl Mascara.

I use this all the time. It may be a bit bright for others, but I have always loved a good pop on the cheek. Its good for when I want that light dewy minimal look, or as a base for when I put powder over to set it. MAC has great colors for blush! Been using their blush for years. Florida has been discontinued, but they have many crème blend blushes to choose from as well as powder blushes.

I don’t use this all the time. I only use it when I want a really dramatic black liner. Its great for setting the liquid liner. A lot of makeup artists use Carbon… which is a more matte black, but I like this one because it has silver sparkle to it! Who doesn’t love sparkle?

MAC lip pencils in (Magenta and Cherry)
You should always line your lips before using lipstick. Especially if your wearing bright colors like red. It prevents the lipstick from bleeding and it makes your lips look more defined.

I use this when I want to go a little lighter and natural. It’s a good eye liner to use on blondes or redheads I have found. It gives them that natural beauty look without being too severe.

I use this all year round, well because 99% of the year I look like casper the ghost. I have very fair skin, and I love how this stuff gives me color. Every one always feels better when they are tan. It lasts a really long time! I’ve had this one container for maybe two years now, or longer, and I use it all the time. I think that’s why they since have made the container smaller.

MAC lip sticks in (Hug me, frost strayin’ and Russian Red)
Recently I have been going for that Indie Zooey Deschanel look or that pin up retro 40s look… and a must have for that look is a red lip! I use Russian Red by MAC, but they also have a really nice red called Ruby Woo, which I plan on getting very soon. A lot of makeup artists talk about that being a favorite color of theirs. The Hug me is a nice natural lipstick to go with for those down days. Its just enough color to make you feel like a woman. The frost strayin’ Im afraid is no longer available. It was a Hello Kitty limited edition color! I love hello kitty! Anyway.. I’m sure you can find it on ebay or amazon.

I put a little dab of this over any lipstick I wear. I also just wear it by itself a lot, especially if I’m running out of the house with a minimal look. Its great when paired with some blush, and mascara then out the door!

To get rid of my Gray hair… YES I have gray hairs!!!!

Herbashine in golden medium Brown
I have been growing my hair out for over a year now. I wanted to keep my natural hair color, however I noticed a lot of gray hairs popping up everywhere. I couldn’t go without dying my hair any longer. I wanted to keep it natural and little damage to my hair as possible. I found this at my super market. It’s a semi permanent color, and its ammonia free! So I was very excited to try it. It keeps very well and it covers all my gray hair!

Nails! Nails! Nails!

Nail file/buffer
You can get these anywhere and they are super cheap! I use it everytime I change the color on my nails. Do this before a base coat, and your polish will lasts for 10 days! I swear!

Nail Polish
I love OPI nail polish, I really do feel the quality is better than a lot of others out there. Not to mention the array of colors are great. My favorite colors to paint my nails this past year were reds, blacks, dark purples and my new fav Brown. The ones I have listed above are OPI’s Linkin park after dark, suzie loves cowboys, the thrill of brazil and a polish from wet n wild where you can find at any store!

My life is in that bag!

Urban Expression Shoulder bag
I’m not sure if they still sell this, because I bought it in December of 2010, and I have been using everyday since… until this past month where I bought a new bag. I have an unhealthy  love affair with this bag. Not only is it vegan leather, but it is still in amazing condition! Great quality bag! I bought I off of Bag Haus for like $60 and it was well worth it. Bag Haus no longer carries this bag but you can check the Urban Expressions website.

So there you go! Some of my all time favorite picks for 2011! Now that its 2012, it’s a whole new year for new and fantastic products! I can’t wait!

Yay, I am now officially a blogger! My first legitimate blog! I hope you all enjoy! I will update my profile and contact information very soon, and I hope to be posting tutorial videos very soon as well. If you have any looks you want me to do, just send them my way!
