Reviews of my Favorite foundations currently

As a makeup artist I have had a lot of experience with all sorts of foundations. Some are perfect, some are just alright and some just flat out suck! Working with Sephora I've been able to test run quite a few and even branch off to other brands that I've used and cherished for years.
Above is a picture of the foundations that I currently rotate through on a daily basis. I'll let you know why I like them, what finish they give and any other comments I have on them.

First, before I get started I think it's important to share that I have combination skin. I'm oily mostly on my nose, pretty normal throughout the rest of my face and super dry on my chin. I have pretty fairly light skin but like to wear a shade darker than my natural color. I just like looking like I have more color, however the key to that is blending all the way down on your neck. Avoid that line of demarkation!!

1.The first foundation I want to mention is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. I don't have it pictured above because I'm currently out of it and have been trying other products in place of it. It's been my go to liquid foundation for some time now. I'm naturally a shade "2.0", but I prefer wearing a "3.5". The shades are either neutral or more golden tone. I find if it has a .0 after the number, it will run a little more golden. The coverage is light to medium, more towards medium. The feel is pretty lightweight and you don't need a lot to cover your face. It's a lot more fluid than your typical foundation, so be careful when applying. It has peptides in it, so it has anti aging benefits. It gives a smooth, plump, air brush finish and no matter who I put in it, it looks like perfection. Cost is $40 for 1.0  fluid ounces. Can be found at Sephora.

 2. Too Faced Born this way foundation. I wear the shade "Nude". It's a little deeper than my natural skin tone as I mentioned previously. This is very comparable to the Urban Decay Naked Skin. It's lightweight and gives the same airbrushed, flawless finish. It has a bit more coverage than the UD Naked, however this one contains coconut water so it will be super hydrating to your skin. It's definitely a medium coverage, buildable to full. The consistency is also thicker. Not as fluid as the UD, but don't let that scare you into thinking it feels heavier. The colors do run a bit more golden than most foundations. You may either be between shades or not find an exact match at all. Might run a little too golden for the super fair skinned client, even though they do have lighter shades. A bottle of this is $39 for 1.0 fluid Ounces and can be found at Sephora as well.
3.NARS All Day Luminious Weightless Foundation. This stuff is a dream! It's called Luminious because it gives you an all over Dewey glow! It's beautiful! It was actually formulated to apply using your finger tips. François Nars is all about effortless beauty, hence the formulation. With that said I would avoid applying with a beauty blender or anything else besides your fingers. You don't want a drop of this product getting soaked up anywhere else but your face. 1 to 2 pumps should cover your whole face. I find that this foundation is also self setting. I always set my foundation with a powder but if you forget to do so with this product, you'll be fine. I wear the shade "Santa Fe" in this foundation. NARS is notorious for running golden in there foundation and it's no different with these. I have to really blend this into my neck in order to get a good looking color match. This is a medium coverage foundation, but can be worn lighter. I'm jut going to lie, this product is a bit more pricey than your average foundation. $48 for 1.0 fluid ounces. Can be found at your favorite Sephora.

4. MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15. I have to say that this is one of my absolute favorite MAC foundations. It's a full coverage foundation with a Demi matte finish. It's described as a matte foundation for oily skin types, but I found it wasn't a true matte foundation. Covers all flaws or imperfections I have and I always feel and look completely finished in it. That's because it reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines. I wear NW20. I have more golden than pink undertones in my skin, so I use the NW rather than the NC. It is slightly darker than my natural skin, especially because it has the SPF 15 in it. Sunscreen tends to make foundations oxidize and appear darker. I use a sunscreen on a daily basis, so most of my foundations tend to deepen. This costs $27 for 1.0 fluid ounces. Amazing product and amazing price!

5. My next favorite MAC foundation is the Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation. I've been using this one a lot since my move to Nashville. It's been 90 degrees almost every day and pretty humid as well. This foundation does not budge! It's water proof, humidity proof, sweat proof, melt proof! Medium to full coverage. This foundation runs very light. As you can see in the first photo, I have 2 tubes of this stuff. The NW20 ran just a little too light for my liking. So I picked up the NW35 and it's more the shade I was looking for. Claims to be 24hr wear. This one is a little more expensive because of its waterproof formula. Natural Satin finish. It's $33 for .85 fluid ounces. You can order online at maccosmetics.com or your local MAC store or counter.
6. MAC Pro Longwear Foundation. This foundation is more on the medium coverage side. It basically does everything the Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation does, except it's not waterproof. I find it does hold up in the humidity however. The color runs more true to my natural color, even though I get the same NW20 as the rest of my foundations. I don't wear this one as much, just for that reason. It's more my choice for the colder months. It's not as thick as the other MAC foundations, so you may need more of it to get your desired coverage. Has a matte finish. It runs more on the medium side but is buildable. The price on this is $33 for 1.0 fluid ounces.
7. MAC Matchmaster SPF 15. This foundation is very comparable to the UD Naked Skin. It's lightweight and medium coverage. Perfect for those warm summer months. Helps with oily skin, shine and gives a Demi Matte finish. Reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines. The Matchmaster technology helps to match your skin better than most foundations. I'm "1.5" in this foundation. That's closest to "NW20". I probably use this the most on a daily basis, especially during the summer. This runs $36 for 1.18 fluid ounces. The most ounces for your money than any of the other foundations that I listed above.

For more details on the above products, you can go to Sephora.com and Maccosmetics.com. They give other customer reviews and product descriptions from the manufacturers. Remember that everyone's skin is different. What works for me, may not work for you. You can always ask your local store or counter for a sample of these products, so you can test them out yourselves before committing to a purchase.
